Radio Reef - Your QTH in the Caribbean

Radio Reef has been our home since we retired from the Wisconsin snow in 2006.  Brad is the ham (K9BZ) and Donna is the (XYL) who has learned to live with the ham through 6 kids, 3 grandkids and umpteen dogs.

Brad has been a ham since 1968, operating from and living in many places during that time including DL, HB9, HB0, HP, I, KH6, KL7, KP2, KP4, OE, VE, and VK. His assigned call signs over the years have included WN9ZZV, WA9ZZV, DA1ML, OE7ZAI and VK4MF.  He is a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and as a young man served in the US Army after graduating from West Point in 1977.

Donna is retired from Ma Bell (guess who does the telephone wiring at Radio Reef) and later from the Realty business.  She is a native of Chicago, Illinois and an avid Bears fan much to the chagrin of a family full of Packer Backers. 

 

Donna is also a scuba diver, but loves working with horses and spends several days a week on the west end of our island taking visitors horseback riding through the rain forest. 

 

When she's not doing that, she can be found tending garden at Southgate Farms on the east end of the island or tripping back to Wisconsin to visit the "grandkids".

Before retiring to St. Croix, Brad worked 22 years for a major Midwest utility, the last 8 years as Chief Technology Officer for their broadband telecommunications subsidiary.  When he's not doing ham radio, Brad can usually be found scuba diving.  On rare occasions during the winter, he has been known to show up at his folk's home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to give his kids and other assorted relatives a free ski lesson.
